Kidney Function to be Addressed at Feb. 3 Diabetes Support Group

ELKHART, Ind. – The Elkhart General Hospital Diabetes Support Group will present “Diabetes and Kidney Function” on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in Auditorium B in the Elkhart General West Wing.

Each year, nearly 100,000 people are diagnosed with kidney failure in the United States. Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure, accounting for more than 40 percent of new cases. Join nurse practitioner Cathy Murr, NP-C, from Nephrology, Inc. as she discusses the affect diabetes has on kidney function and what you can do to prevent kidney problems.

The Elkhart General Hospital Diabetes Support Group gives patients and families dealing with diabetes continuing peer support. Monthly meetings feature a variety of topics related to diabetes presented by experts in the healthcare field. The Diabetes Support Group meets the first Thursday of every month in the Elkhart General Hospital Auditorium B, and the second Friday of the month in the Elkhart General Hospital Prenatal Classroom.
