Elkhart General Offers Free Depression Screenings
September 23, 2005

ELKHART, IN - As Part of National Depression Screening Day and Mental Health Awareness Week, Elkhart General Center for Behavioral Medicine is offering free screenings for depression, manic depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder on October 6, 2005 from 11:00am-2:00pm in the Hospital’s First Floor Classrooms 4 & 5.

The free screenings are appropriate for children, teens and adults, and include a written self-test and a one-on-one confidential meeting with a mental health professional.

Depression is one of the most common mental disorders, affecting more than 19 million Americans each year. Unfortunately, only one-third of sufferers seek treatment even though depression is a treatable illness. Common symptoms of depression include feelings of sadness, loss of pleasure in usual activities, feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, and worthlessness, loss of energy and appetite, and thoughts of death or suicide.

No registration is necessary. For more information, call (574) 523-3347.
