Elkhart General Hospital Foundation Receives $2,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant

Elkhart, IN – The Elkhart General Hospital Foundation recently received a $2,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant. Grant money will be designated to the Healthy Indiana Plan, a health insurance program for uninsured adult Hoosiers ages 19 - 64.
“The CVS Caremark Grant extends Elkhart General Hospital’s ability to carry out its mission of creating a healthier community,” said Jon Housand, Executive Director, Elkhart General Hospital Foundation. “The Foundation Board made a very compassionate decision to fund the Healthy Indiana Plan. The recipients of this financial support can now seek the health care they would have otherwise postponed.”
“CVS Caremark Community Grants are an effective way for us to contribute to the success of communities where we do business,” said Jennifer Veilleux, Director of CVS Caremark Corporation. “We are proud to support the work that the Elkhart General Hospital Foundation does in the community.”
The Elkhart General Hospital Foundation was selected to receive a grant through the CVS Caremark Community Grants 2008 grant application process. Grants were awarded to organizations that share a common interest with CVS Caremark of supporting programs for the uninsured, which help to make health services affordable and easy to access.
“Through this grant, we are assuring that more uninsured individuals in Elkhart receive needed care, that the care received is of high quality, and that the uninsured are served by medical providers and professionals who are dedicated to improving their lives and the lives of others,” said Don Hartly, CVS Vice President, Granger area.
