Elkhart General Hospital Foundation Provides Grant Money to Hospital

ELKHART, IN – The Elkhart General Hospital Foundation has made a grant of $20,000 to the Hospital for the purchase of a Right Heart Assist device. This device, called ECMO (Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation) is used in open-heart surgeries when full bypass equipment is not required. It can also be used for patients experiencing respiratory and/or cardiac arrest.

This grant was made from an Endowment established with the EGH Foundation by the Martin Foundation in the late 1980’s. Mrs. Geraldine Martin and the late Mr. Lee Martin designated this Endowment to be used for any important Hospital needs.

The EGH Foundation is a 501(c)(3) corporation separate from the Hospital and governed by a group of civic leaders. The mission of the Foundation is to raise funds in support of the Hospital mission of “Creating Healthier Communities.” All contributions are tax deductible.
