Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Medical Services to Offer Emergency Medical Training (EMT) Course

GOSHEN, IN – Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Medical Services is offering an Emergency Medical Training (EMT) Course every Tuesday and Thursday beginning February 7, and concluding on July 12, 2012 from 6 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the Elkhart General Health Education Center next to Lowe’s on US 33 in Goshen.

The EMT class teaches the concepts, information and skills needed to safely assess and treat patients in pre-hospital emergency situations. Training includes classroom instruction as well as clinical rotations in the Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Department and on an emergency ambulance. Upon successful completion of this program students are eligible to take the National Registry/Indiana State Written and Practical Skills Exams.

Students must have a high school diploma or GED, hepatitis vaccination, MMR vaccination, varicella immunity, tetanus immunization within the past 10 years, recent tuberculosis test, valid Healthcare Provider Level CPR card and be at least 18 years of age.

Tuition is $600 and includes clinical supplies. Textbooks are ordered separately. Registration is required. To register visit www.egh.org or call 574-875-6430.
