Elkhart General Healthcare System President Awarded Highest Honor from Indiana Hospital Association

ELKHART, IN — Elkhart General Healthcare System president Greg Lintjer was honored by the Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) with the Distinguished Service Award during the organization’s annual meeting at the Hyatt Regency Downtown in Indianapolis on Tuesday night.

 The IHA recognizes outstanding personal achievement in support of the humanitarian and management goals of Indiana healthcare institutions. A top honor among members of the nonprofit organization, the award comes as a result of Lintjer’s continued advancement of high-quality, efficient healthcare in the Elkhart community.

Lintjer was celebrated by the IHA for being a constant champion for outstanding customer service and community involvement. In his 20 years as president, Lintjer’s leadership and motivation have helped Hospital employees to consciously interact with and listen to patients and visitors, steadily increasing overall patient satisfaction.

“Greg Lintjer is an advocate for excellent customer service,” said Elkhart General Hospital board chairman Don Krabill. “The Hospital staff’s ability to communicate with patients and operate efficiently is a direct result of his involvement.”

Lintjer has also worked tirelessly over the past decade to build the Hospital’s highly-rated and nationally-ranked cardiac and orthopaedic programs. Both service lines are favorably ranked by HealthGrades^®, the leading independent provider of healthcare ratings.

In addition to patient satisfaction and program development, the staff’s nomination also cited Lintjer for his pride in the role Elkhart General Hospital plays in the local community.

“He believes it is the Hospital’s responsibility to be deeply ingrained in the community and viewed as an asset in community development initiatives,” Krabill said. “He is actively involved in community organizations and encourages his leadership team to be involved as well.”

Prior to joining Elkhart General Hospital in 1990, Lintjer served as president and senior vice president at Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora, Ill. and as an assistant administrator at Des Moines General Hospital in Des Moines, Ill.
