Become an Emergency Medical Technician

GOSHEN, IN – Elkhart General Hospital is offering an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course beginning August 10, 2010. The course meets twice a week and runs through January 2011 and will be held at the Elkhart General Health Education Center located at 2222 Rieth Blvd, next to Lowe’s on US 33 in Goshen.

The Emergency Medical Technician Course teaches the concepts, information and skills needed to safely assess and treat patients in pre-hospital emergency situations. Training includes classroom instruction as well as clinical rotations in the Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Department and riding along in an emergency ambulance. Completion of this program provides eligibility for the National Registry and Indiana State certification examinations.

Students must have a high school diploma or GED, Hepatitis vaccination, MMR vaccination, Varicella immunity, Tetanus immunization within the past 10 years, recent Tuberculosis test, valid Healtchare Provider Level CPR Card, and be at least 18 years of age.

All inclusive tuition is $625 which includes textbook, workbook, and clinical supplies. Payment options are available.
