She – A Special Health Experience

Several years ago we talked with groups of women throughout Michiana. Women from all walks of life, women of all ages. We asked them what they wanted from a hospital. What would the ideal program and facility look like?

We learned a lot from them. We learned they were tired of traveling from place to place for different types of care. We learned they wanted services centralized in a relaxing, “non-clinical” environment; a place that made them feel comfortable talking about uncomfortable things. We learned they wanted an approach that recognized that all women are not all alike and that they have different needs at different times in their lives.

We listened. And we began changing existing programs and developing entirely new programs. The Breast Care Center. Special Beginnings Maternity Center. The Menopause Clinic. The Continence Clinic. The Bone Health Clinic. Seminars. Health Fairs. These programs and many more were guided by the spirit of our discussions with women, discussions which have fostered a philosophy of care we now simply refer to as She…Special Health Experiences. She. That’s what our programs are all about.

Until January, 2005 these programs were located in different parts of Elkhart General Hospital and some were offered at the Women’s Center at our Goshen Campus (now closed). But now we offer these programs in an exceptional health care environment unique in all of Michiana: The West Wing. Pleasant. Harmonious. A courtyard. A fountain. Natural light and earth tones.   At the Elkhart General Integrative Medicine Center, we embrace the philosophy of the mind, body and spirit connection. We offer established integrative medicine services for preventative, chronic and long-term stages of care and can help you learn and practice various self-healing techniques.
