Junior Auxiliary

Junior Auxiliary is a program for teens age 14 or older or in the 9th grade who are are sincerely interested in providing patient care. This program is for dedicated students willing to put aside at least 6 hours a month volunteering at Elkhart General Hospital. Students are trained and oriented to the hospital and then begin their work on various floors at Elkhart General. This program meets most students' need for community volunteer hours required for entrance into some college medical programs, while providing a valuable resource for the hospital.

Responsibilities

Junior Auxilians perform a wide variety of duties. They pass out meal trays and water, make beds, fold linens, assist with paperwork and help the nursing staff with various patient comfort measures.

Monthly Meetings

Meetings are held the second Monday of every month in the Elkhart General Private Dining Room.
