Learn more about needs for Pediatric Patients

Prior to surgery

Infants and children should not have anything to eat or drink after midnight, including water, unless directed otherwise by your physician. Failure to comply may result in the cancellation of your child's procedure. Also, if your child develops a fever, cough, or rash, please notify your doctor.

On the day of Surgery

Bring an empty baby bottle with your infant. Any familiar, cuddly item like a stuffed toy or blanket that might reduce anxiety is also recommended.

After surgery

After the surgery, your child will remain in recovery for about an hour. You will be able to see your child once they have been moved to Outpatient Surgery or their inpatient room. Should your child need to spend the night, a cot will be put in your child's room so that you may stay, too. Parents and legal guardians may visit 24 hours. Healthy siblings of all ages are welcome to visit. Your child's nurse will help you arrange proper visiting hours.
