The Occupational Therapists at Elkhart General will help you become as independent as possible. The treatment will help you redevelop motor, sensory and cognitive skills. Occupational therapy provides you with the skills and equipment necessary to accomplish the tasks in day-to-day living. You may benefit from occupational therapy if you have conditions like:  

• Arthritis
• Orthopedic injuries or conditions
• Stroke or other neurological disorders
• Brain or spinal cord injuries

• Balance and Fall Precaution Program
  Interdisciplinary Program determines if you are “at risk” of falling and what you can do to decrease that risk by individualized exercise programs or recommendation for walking assistance.
• Cognitive Retraining
  Cognitive retraining is one aspect of cognitive rehabilitation, a comprehensive approach to restoring such skills after brain injury or other disability.
• Driving Simulator
  The driving simulator is part of a comprehensive screen provided by Occupational Therapy. Its purpose is to assess physical and thinking skills used when driving.
• Functional Capacity Evaluations
  A Functional Capacity Evaluation is defined as “a systematic method of measuring an individual’s ability to perform meaningful tasks on a safe and dependable basis.”
  
• Hand Therapy
  The goal of Hand Therapy is to help patients regain full hand and upper extremity function for daily activities.
• Visual Perceptual Therapy
  Vision Perceptual Therapy is an individualized supervised treatment program designed to correct visual-motor or perceptual-cognitive deficiencies.
