Abdomen and Chest X-ray

Abdominal X-ray Overview

An abdominal X-ray provides a picture of structures and organs in the abdomen, such as the large and small intestines, stomach, liver, spleen, and diaphragm, the muscle that separates the chest cavity and the abdominal cavity. If the test is being done to look for certain problems of the kidneys or bladder, it is often called a KUB (for kidneys, ureters, and bladder).

Chest X-ray Overview

A chest X-ray provides a picture of organs and structures within your chest, including the heart, the lungs and the airway leading to them, major blood vessels, and upper portion of the thin sheet of muscle just below the lungs (diaphragm). A chest X-ray also shows the bones of the chest, including the breastbone, ribs, collarbone, and upper part of the spine. Chest X-ray is the most common type of X-ray test.
