Testicular ultrasound is generally utilized in the evaluation of scrotal pain, mass or swelling. This study provides unequalled depiction of testicular structures. Doppler ultrasound techniques are frequently employed to provide information concerning testicular blood flow.
Testicular ultrasound does not require any preparation prior to exam.
Testicular ultrasound requires the male patient to disrobe from the waist down. Folded towels are placed to cover the penis and lift the scrotum. The patient will be covered with a sheet except during scanning. Scanning is generally performed by the sonographer using gel and a small transducer. The radiologist may also examine the patient. Testicular ultrasound takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete.
