Has your doctor told you to reduce the cholesterol in your diet, and you replied “How?” Do you want to prepare healthier meals for your family but you’re not sure where to start?
If so, Elkhart General has the perfect solution. It’s not a brochure on what foods to avoid. It’s not a lecture series on good nutrition. It’s a class called HeartWell Cuisine, where EGH Registered Dietitians stand in front of you and COOK!
Using a “Demo Kitchen,” Melissa Freer-Smith, RD, will illustrate how to combine simple techniques with nutrition awareness to lower cholesterol and reduce cardiac risk.
“We’ll show you, rather than tell you, how to replace high-calorie ingredients with healthy alternatives that make the outcome delicious and satisfying,” says Melissa. “Our recipes are easy to prepare and very tasty. And at the end of each demonstration, everyone is welcome to sample the dishes!”
$25/person or $40/couple.
Classes are held in the New Directions Wellness Clinic. Take Elevator B to the third floor of the main hospital.
To register, call IPS at (574) 523-3444.
