Health Information Management

You can join our Elkhart General Healthcare System Health Information Management team as a Medical/Radiology Transcriptionist, a Coding Specialist, a Processor, or as a member of our Release of Information team. Our incredible staff, warm environment and open-door policy will give you the support you need.  To ensure you have the tools necessary to do your job accurately, you'll be provided with the latest technology available!  And like all departments at EGH, we provide the flexibility and educational opportunities to ensure future success—both professionally and personally.

Medical/Radiology Transcriptionist

To help your work day be efficient and error-free, all transcriptionists work with a quality voice recognition system. There are three shifts available for transcriptionists, so you can work the hours that fit your lifestyle. After you work in-house for two years, you may be eligible to work from home, making a healthy balance between your career and your personal life even more attainable. We also have four emergency room dictation specialists on staff.

Coding Specialist

We provide you with all of the latest coding technology. We have been storing our coding records in our electronic imaging system since 2002, and we use a high-tech 3M Encoder to help you ensure our records are accurate.

All of your peers on the coding team are credentialed, and within our department, staff members have reached varying levels of degrees and certification including BS, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CMT and CHP. To help you reach an advanced level as a Coding Specialist, EGH will reimburse you for each certification exam you pass. Flexible schedules are also available for our Coding Specialists.

Processors

Processors at EGH have three shift options to choose from, so can work hours that best fit their current lifestyle. As with all full-time positions at EGH, our Processors are eligible for tuition reimbursement for classes both within and outside of the medical field.
