Elkhart General Hospital Foundation Announces Community Art Project Fundraiser
. – Elkhart General Hospital Foundation announces a community art project fundraiser, Have a Heart, benefitting the Elkhart General Center for Cardiac Care.
Five-foot fiberglass hearts designed and created by local artists will be placed throughout the community beginning late summer. The hearts will be auctioned during a Gala at the Lerner Theatre on February 14, 2014. Additional artists are needed to design and paint the hearts that will be auctioned. Interested parties should contact Nanci Wirt at email@example.com.
All proceeds will benefit the Elkhart General Center for Cardiac Care. Funds raised will be used to purchase high tech equipment that will allow for implantation of ventricular assisted devices (VAD). Currently, implantation is done in Indianapolis and the follow-up treatment is done at Elkhart General Hospital. Expanding the Elkhart General Center for Cardiac Care will allow patients in need of a VAD to stay close to home for both implantation and follow-up care. Additional funding will be provided to expand the Hospital’s heart failure initiatives and benefit HeartReach Michiana, a not-for-profit entity that supplies Automated External Defibrillators (AED) to area businesses and other local not-for-profits.
Elkhart General Center for Cardiac Care has been serving patients for over 15 years and is ranked number one in Indiana for cardiac surgery and one of America’s Top 100 Hospitals in Cardiac Care.
Co-chairpersons for the event are Suzanne Weirick and Tim Portolese. Honorary chairpersons are Arthur J. Decio; Walter and Maura Halloran; Jeff and Phid Wells; Ron and Lisa Fenech and Greg and Anne Losasso.
