Elkhart, Ind. – Cardiothoracic Surgery of Northern Indiana, a proud member of the Elkhart General Medical Group, welcomes Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Stephen L. Dickson, Jr., M.D.  

Dr. Stephen Dickson earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Fla. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and his fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla.

After graduating from fellowship training in 2001 he began practicing in Punta Gorda, Fla. In 2003 an opportunity opened to return he and his wife to their Midwestern roots, and moved to Evansville, Ind. and Ohio Valley Heart Care. During his practice in Evansville he established the minimally invasive and beating heart cardiac surgery program at St. Mary’s Hospital. Through work in the community he also established a Practicum in Medicine course for two local high schools to send students into the medical professions for a semester. Immediately prior to joining the Elkhart General Medical Group he practiced in Louisville, Ky. He has returned to Indiana to offer cardiothoracic surgery to patients in the Michiana area.

Dr. Dickson is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He specializes in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) revascularization, surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation and mitral valve repair techniques.
