Elkhart General Hospital Offers New Treatment for Heart Failure Patients
ELKHART, IN. – Elkhart General Hospital is the first and only hospital in the region to offer Aquapheresis Therapy for heart failure patients.
The Aquapheresis Therapy is a treatment designed for patients with heart failure and fluid overload. It uses a technique called ultrafiltration which removes excess fluid and salt from the blood. Fluid overload is the key morbidity of heart failure and ultrafiltration is the gold standard in treating this condition. By offering this new therapy, Elkhart General Hospital will improve patient quality of life and reduce patient healthcare costs by reducing readmission rates.
