Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Medical Services is Offering a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course
Elkhart General Hospital Emergency Medical Services is holding a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Elkhart General Health Education Building located at 2222 Rieth Blvd, Goshen, Ind.
The goal of the PALS course supplies the healthcare provider with skills and knowledge to effectively and efficiently recognize and manage critically ill infants and children. An emphasis is placed on respiratory management, early recognition of impending arrest and prohibiting cardiac arrest. Skills taught include: a systematic approach to assessment, intraosseous access, electrical therapy, fluid administration and effective team communication. Core cases involve shock, cardiac dysrhythmias and respiratory compromise. The program is designed for physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, respiratory therapists and advanced level EMS providers responsible for emergency pediatric care.
