Inpatient Services

Located on the second floor of Elkhart General Hospital, the Center for Behavioral Medicine (CBM) has on-site counselors, physicians, psychiatrists and trained staff who provide assessment, testing, therapy, medication management, inpatient care, and counseling for adults and their families, with an emphasis on understanding and making healthy changes. 

The Center for Behavioral Medicine is a medical/psychiatric department providing the best medical care for patients with existing co-morbidities (endocrine problems, cardiac complications, genitourinary disease, etc.). CBM patients may have all laboratory and diagnostic testing, OT/PT conveniently completed at Elkhart General Hospital.

CBM’s 16-bed mental health unit provides a safe, therapeutic environment for those experiencing emotional trauma or psychiatric emergencies. Each treatment program is completely individualized, and patients work with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, mental health nurses, psychologists, social workers, therapists and clergy. The Treatment Team meets daily to maximize the patient's chances of a prompt, successful return home.

All services are strictly confidential adhering to Indiana State and Federal law, rules and regulations. The Center for Behavioral Medicine is accredited with (HFAP) Hospital Facilities Accreditation Program.
